Course Objectives
After completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the structure and function of the vestibular system, including vestibular blood supply and vestibular system’s relationship to the cerebellum, and relate this knowledge to understanding vestibular pathophysiology.

  • Understand the structure and function of the cochlear system and relate this knowledge to understanding the significance of inquiring about hearing when suspect vestibular pathology.

  • Understand the structure and function of the visual system and relate this knowledge to understanding how it contributes to oculomotor control and understanding the importance of inquiring about visual pathologies as a regular part of history taking.

  • Apply knowledge gained from understanding the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of vestibular and visual systems to the bedside visual field and oculomotor examination.
